Drawing from the spirit of pioneering ancestral women artists like poet Phillis Wheatley, this exhibition honors the rich contributions of Black women to the artistic narrative.
Evidence of Contrary Instincts is not about a battle for a list of demands defined not by love but by lack. Working against patriarchal power which historically undervalued the burden of women's life outside the men's realm, this exhibition articulates women's struggle to ease those burdens.
